Elements in Group 2 of the periodic table, also known as the alkaline earth metals, have two valence electrons. These elements include beryllium (Be), magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), strontium (Sr), barium (Ba), and radium (Ra). The valence electrons are the electrons present in the outermost energy level or shell of an atom, and in Group 2, the outermost shell contains two electrons.
