Are photons (p) and electrons (e) just different forms of the same fundamental energetic driving force? I.e. does the (p) become part of the (e) as it hits matter and excites the (e), and then emitted as a (p) again when the (e) relaxes?

In the vast gulfs between galaxies where expansion is occurring, if the quantum field is inseparable from space then shouldn't the quantum field also be expanding, or at least increasing in its extent, as you can't have one without the other?
