I apologize for the confusion in my previous response. Albert Einstein did not refuse surgery before his death because he passed away suddenly from an abdominal aortic aneurysm on April 18, 1955. At that time, the surgical techniques available for treating such conditions were not as advanced as they are today. Additionally, Einstein's aneurysm was diagnosed at a stage where surgical intervention would have been extremely risky, and the chances of success were relatively low. Given these circumstances, the decision not to pursue surgery was made by Einstein's doctors based on the medical knowledge and available treatment options of that time. Einstein himself did not actively choose to refuse surgery.
