An example of melting a solid to a liquid is the process of melting ice cubes. When you take ice cubes out of the freezer and leave them at room temperature, they absorb heat from the surroundings. As a result, the ice cubes gain energy, and their molecules start vibrating more rapidly. This increased molecular motion causes the solid ice to break down, and the ice particles transition into a liquid state, forming water. This transformation from a solid (ice) to a liquid (water) is known as melting.
