In the "Back to the Future" trilogy, the DeLorean time machine required a speed of 88 miles per hour (approximately 142 kilometers per hour) to initiate time travel. Once the vehicle reached this speed and the necessary conditions were met, it would activate the flux capacitor and transport the occupants through time. The iconic line "Where we're going, we don't need roads" was often spoken by Dr. Emmett Brown (played by Christopher Lloyd) as the DeLorean took off into the future or past.
