The highest level of g-force that a human has experienced while remaining conscious is approximately 46.2 g (gravitational force). This record was set by John Stapp, an American Air Force officer and flight surgeon, during a series of rocket sled tests conducted in the 1950s.

On December 10, 1954, Stapp rode a rocket sled called the "Sonic Wind No. 1" at the Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, USA. The sled was accelerated to a maximum speed of around 632 miles per hour (1,017 kilometers per hour) and came to a sudden stop, subjecting Stapp to extreme deceleration forces.

During the rapid deceleration, Stapp experienced a peak g-force of approximately 46.2 g for a very brief moment. Despite the tremendous force exerted on his body, Stapp managed to remain conscious throughout the test.
