The Earth rotates around an imaginary axis called the rotational axis. This axis passes through the North and South Poles of the Earth. When we refer to the rotation of the Earth, it means the spinning motion of the Earth on this axis. The Earth completes one full rotation on its axis in approximately 24 hours, which gives us the familiar cycle of day and night.
