While it is true that the universe is expanding and objects are moving away from each other on a large scale, gravity still plays a significant role in our everyday experiences on Earth. The perception of gravity arises from the gravitational attraction between objects with mass.

Gravity is a fundamental force in nature that acts between any two objects with mass. On Earth, the force of gravity is responsible for holding us to the surface and governing the motion of objects. Despite the expansion of the universe, gravity remains a local phenomenon that operates on smaller scales, such as within galaxies, star systems, and planetary systems.

The reason we can feel gravity on Earth is that our planet has a tremendous amount of mass concentrated in a relatively small volume. Earth's gravitational field extends around it, pulling objects towards its center. When we stand on the ground, we experience the gravitational force between our bodies and the Earth, which we perceive as weight. This force of gravity keeps us anchored to the surface.

While the expansion of the universe affects the large-scale structure and dynamics of the cosmos, it does not negate the local effects of gravity. Gravity acts independently of the overall expansion and is responsible for the formation and evolution of galaxies, star systems, and planets, as well as the motion of objects on smaller scales.

It's important to note that the expansion of the universe is not directly perceptible to us on Earth because the forces and gravitational interactions within our local environment dominate our everyday experiences.
