Sound waves cannot travel through the vacuum of space because they require a medium, such as air, water, or a solid, to propagate. In space, where there is no air or any other material to transmit sound, sound waves are unable to travel.

However, there are other forms of waves that can propagate through space, such as electromagnetic waves. These include visible light, radio waves, microwaves, and X-rays. Unlike sound waves, electromagnetic waves do not require a medium and can travel through the vacuum of space. They can travel vast distances across the universe, allowing us to observe distant stars and galaxies.
