The first time humans saw Earth from space was on October 24, 1946, during the launch of a V-2 rocket from the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, United States. The rocket, called the V-2 No. 13, reached an altitude of 65 miles (105 kilometers) and captured images of Earth's curvature from space. These photographs provided the earliest glimpses of our planet from a vantage point beyond its atmosphere. However, it's important to note that the images taken during this mission were black and white and not as iconic or widely known as the later photographs of Earth taken by astronauts.
