In traditional Indian astronomy and astrology, the planets are associated with various deities and have corresponding names. Here are the Indian names of the eight planets in our solar system:
- Mercury: Budha
- Venus: Shukra
- Earth: Prithvi (Bhumi is also used sometimes)
- Mars: Mangala or Angaraka
- Jupiter: Brihaspati or Guru
- Saturn: Shani
- Uranus: Arun
- Neptune: Varuna
It's important to note that the discovery of Uranus and Neptune took place in modern times, long after the ancient Indian names for the planets were established. Therefore, Uranus and Neptune don't have traditional Indian names.
