The nearest star to Earth, apart from our Sun, is Proxima Centauri. It is located approximately 4.24 light-years away from us. In terms of distance, this equates to about 40 trillion kilometers or 25 trillion miles.
As for planets orbiting Proxima Centauri, there is at least one confirmed exoplanet known as Proxima b. It was discovered in 2016 and is classified as an Earth-sized planet. Proxima b orbits within the habitable zone of its star, which is the region where conditions might be suitable for liquid water to exist on the surface.
Regarding the presence of intelligent life on Proxima b or any other exoplanets, we currently have no definitive evidence or knowledge. Determining the existence of intelligent life on distant planets is a challenging task and requires more data and observations. Scientists continue to explore and study exoplanets using various methods, such as analyzing their atmospheres and searching for biosignatures, in the hopes of finding signs of life beyond Earth.
