Heat is conducted more quickly by metal than by air at room temperature.
Metal is an excellent conductor of heat due to its high thermal conductivity. It means that heat can easily flow through metal materials because the energy is efficiently transferred from one particle to another within the metal lattice. As a result, metals can conduct heat rapidly.
On the other hand, air is a poor conductor of heat. Gases, including air, have low thermal conductivity because their molecules are more spread out compared to solids like metals. Heat transfer in gases primarily occurs through convection (where heated molecules rise and cooler ones take their place) and, to a lesser extent, through conduction.
So, in terms of conducting heat, metal is much more efficient than air at room temperature.
