In the film Interstellar, the concept of time dilation is depicted in a science fiction context where astronauts near a supermassive black hole experience significant time dilation compared to those on Earth. This extreme form of time dilation is a result of the strong gravitational field near the black hole.

In reality, creating time dilation on a comparable scale to what is depicted in Interstellar would require accessing a region with an incredibly intense gravitational field. Currently, humans do not possess the technology or means to create or control such extreme gravitational fields.

However, it is worth noting that time dilation does occur in our everyday lives, albeit to a much smaller extent. The effects of time dilation are observable in situations involving high relative velocities or strong gravitational fields, although they are generally negligible at the human scale.

For instance, astronauts aboard the International Space Station experience slightly slower time compared to people on Earth due to their relative motion and the weaker gravitational field in orbit. However, the time dilation effect in this scenario is relatively small, on the order of microseconds over extended periods.

To recreate the kind of time dilation portrayed in Interstellar, where years pass by for one person while minutes elapse for another, would require accessing an environment near an extremely massive object or traveling at speeds approaching the speed of light. At present, such capabilities are beyond our technological reach.
