A white surface reflects all incoming light wavelengths equally. When white light, which contains all visible wavelengths, falls onto a white surface, it reflects all of those wavelengths back to our eyes. As a result, we perceive the surface as white. Unlike colored surfaces, which selectively absorb certain wavelengths and reflect others, a white surface reflects the entire spectrum of visible light without favoring any specific color.
